CYCLES: art and gathering in Mykonos after the summer

A new programme extends the picture beyond opening night: an exhibition and a series of gatherings through 1 November, with two practical details still needing confirmation.

Published programme

A gallery as a meeting place

CYCLES: The Gathering returns to Maria Iglessi Municipal Gallery for a second year, with municipal support. The programme published by Xplore Mykonos News on 16 October gives a festival window of 17 October–1 November and names Yasmin Orozco as artistic curator.

The municipal announcement describes photography, video installation, ceramics, handmade paper and other media. The programme’s value for an autumn visitor is its sequence of encounters: the gallery is presented as somewhere to return to, rather than a single opening-night appointment.

What to look for in the programme

The newer schedule includes rebetiko and traditional music on 19 October, Glafkos Smarianakis’s Looping the Aegean on 24 October and an open jam session on 25 October. These give readers different ways into the gathering, from listening to a named performance to an open musical meeting. The full published programme is linked below; scheduled appearances are not a report that performances have taken place.

Two details to check before setting out

The newer programme gives 20:00 for the opening on 17 October; the municipal calendar displays 20:30. We have removed a single opening time from our calendar entry while retaining this discrepancy.

For Petros Veronis and Echo Pardale on 31 October, the newer festival programme and the older municipal listing also differ on venue. Our linked concert entry flags that conflict. A festival date range should not be read as daily gallery opening hours: admission terms, visiting hours and any reservation requirement still need confirmation.

A reason to return

For residents and visitors staying into autumn, the useful question is which gathering fits a particular day. Read the programme alongside the calendar entry, allow for changes, and confirm practical arrangements with the organiser. A sequence of small cultural appointments offers a different way to spend time in Chora: returning to the same place for a different conversation, sound or artistic practice.
