READING THE ATLAS
Explore landmarks, places to stay, food and everyday services using shared categories, area filters and optional location sorting. Providers without a verified map position remain in the list without a pin. This is a source-backed selection, not a comprehensive directory or a service review.
Each record retains its own source-check date. Pins help with orientation; they do not certify an exact entrance, accessibility or current operation. Venues may be seasonal: confirm hours, reservations and access with the operator.

MYKONOS ILLUSTRATED / THE LOCAL DESK
Local reporting, public documents and decisions affecting Mykonos. Clear sources, dates and a distinction between announcements and implementation.
ISLAND NEWS · EDUCATION & HOUSING
Teachers say informal rentals leave them unable to document housing costs. Ministry guidance explains why a TAXIS lease is requested for cash support, but the current municipal application still needs direct confirmation.
ISLAND NEWS · ACCESSIBILITY
A payment claim could not be fully certified after two unanswered requests for supporting documents, the Tourism Ministry says. The decision does not establish the condition of beach facilities.
ISLAND NEWS · PLANNING
The community council asked for more clarification on the proposed construction-materials quay and the road it would need. Its environmental opinion remains open.
ISLAND NEWS · WATER
A water-reuse system is operating in the port’s public sanitation facilities. The projected reduction of more than 65% concerns those facilities, not measured savings across the island.
ISLAND NEWS · FERRIES
Five island mayors back a second daily inter-island link and changes to the winter timetable. Their resolution is a request, not a revised sailing schedule.
ISLAND NEWS · FERRIES
Blue Star Paros will not run its Piraeus–Mykonos return service on Friday. Blue Star Myconos is due at the island early Saturday after a late Piraeus departure.
ISLAND NEWS · PORT OPERATIONS
A 21 October decision assigns an internal procurement and compliance tool to VILABS. The published award does not establish that a contract has been signed or the system is operating.
ISLAND NEWS · DELOS WATCH
The South Aegean Region says it has raised Phase B funding to €5.53m. The announcement describes revised project costs, but does not document completed work.
ISLAND NEWS · LOCAL ECONOMY
A reported €33,000 monthly rent demand, court dispute and planned ELTA relocation put Mykonos commercial property costs in focus.
ISLAND NEWS · ENVIRONMENT
A 15 October regional report records two environmental violations at a DEDDIE yard in Skylampela, including oil leaking from six damaged transformers. Cleanup is ordered, not confirmed complete.
ISLAND NEWS · SEASON OUTLOOK
Cruise ships are scheduled to visit Mykonos through late October 2026. See selected port calls, venue closures and practical options for visitors.
ISLAND NEWS · LOCAL FINANCE
An Interior Ministry decision allocates €1,924,584.95 to the municipality from May–July cruise-levy receipts. The document does not identify a local project or prove the money has been spent.
ISLAND NEWS · SEASON OUTLOOK
GNTO reports 475,510 international air arrivals through August, up 9.1%. Its case for a longer season also reveals how much of last year’s traffic remained in July and August.
ISLAND NEWS · CULTURE
A new programme extends the picture beyond opening night: an exhibition and a series of gatherings through 1 November, with two practical details still needing confirmation.
ISLAND NEWS · ENVIRONMENT
The ministry names Mykonos in a €6.4 million funding call covering six islands. The announcement is a step towards restoration, with the island’s allocation and delivery timetable still unspecified.
ISLAND NEWS · INFRASTRUCTURE
The €1.4976 million draft separates procurement from programme management. Its description and budget give different numbers of lighting poles; approval is not installation.
ISLAND NEWS · HOUSING
Decision 241/2026 concerns a proposal for housing rented to public employees. The donation contract and housing delivery are separate next steps.
ISLAND NEWS · FERRIES
The carrier’s updated notice schedules departure at 23:10 and Piraeus arrival at 03:50 on 6 October. A separate Monday departure from Piraeus is cancelled.
ISLAND NEWS · LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The 6 October agenda includes a proposed home for municipal weaving activities and requests for Matogianni hall. Decisions remain pending.
ISLAND NEWS · PUBLIC WORKS
The committee approves draft cooperation terms with a €673,270.66 budget including VAT. The record describes a change to works procurement, not a completed repair or a reopening date.
ISLAND NEWS · WINTER EDUCATION
The municipality approves €17,688.60 for 2026 and provision for €17,081 in 2027. Music, cinema, choir training and an adult stress-management group are covered, but enrolment details still need confirmation.
ISLAND NEWS · BUILDING CONTROL
Decision 393/2026 temporarily suspends a municipal employee identified in reporting as the planning chief. The mayor says the office will close, but no published transfer plan yet tells applicants where pending cases will go.
ISLAND NEWS · PORTS
The Port Authority has opened a two-part tender for a port-facility security officer and deputy. Bids close at 13:00 on 14 October; the notice is not an award or a new security regime already in place.
ISLAND NEWS · CULTURAL EDUCATION
The committee approved a proposal to retain €50 monthly tuition, a reduced September charge, family additions and staff discounts. Its agenda sends the matter to the council; a final council decision has not been verified.
PORT · ANNOUNCED PLAN
The Port Fund reports a promise to advance a local station next year. Ministry notices already describe a Mykonos branch under Syros, leaving the proposed administrative change and timetable to be specified.
INFRASTRUCTURE · MUNICIPAL DECISION
The municipal committee approved a 12-month extension for cadastral and road-design studies after the municipality changed the planned alignment. The decision concerns study work, not a road-building timetable.
BEACH SAFETY · MUNICIPAL DECISION
A municipal decision covers 1–31 October at the island’s designated busy beaches and approves a €109,676.45 pre-VAT contract increase. The signed amendment and actual October service remain to be verified.
SPORT · RACE GUIDE
The organiser has published three routes for 25 October: 1 km at 16:00, 3 km at 16:30 and 6 km at 17:00. Entry is free, with a 150-person registration limit.
PORT · PRACTICAL INFORMATION
A request does not secure a berth. Reading the Port Fund’s booking conditions alongside its linked tariff decisions explains the two 24-hour deadlines, the catamaran supplement and why a daily rate is not the whole bill.
LOCAL ECONOMY · MUNICIPAL DECISIONS
The Municipal Committee sets €4,800 a year for Ano Mera and €8,400 for Mykonians in the reserved 30% of kiosk positions. Comparison with the June decisions shows what has changed—and what the new document does not settle.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT · DIGITAL SERVICES
A September committee decision approves termination by mutual agreement after the award was annulled. The published record establishes the decision, but not a signed termination agreement, a replacement provider or a service interruption.
COMMUNITY · PUBLIC SPACES
September decisions allocate indoor and outdoor school-gym hours for volleyball and an Ano Mera hall for free classes. Permission to use a space still needs a separate attendance programme.
MUNICIPALITY · OPEN DATA
A mayoral decision appoints a data-use officer and administrator for the national portal. It defines responsibility for publishing and maintaining datasets, without announcing a new public dataset.
PORT · INFRASTRUCTURE
The Port Fund reports that installation has started on a €3.7 million project, with completion expected by December 2026. The intervention concerns vessel berthing.
ANO MERA · SPORTS FACILITIES
Mykonos Council approved a 90-day extension for the three courts in Ano Mera. The decision records a revised project total of €281,338.62 including VAT, without adding a new budget increase.
EDUCATION · MUNICIPAL FUNDING
€51,744 is earmarked for cleaning payroll through December 2026 and €27,710 for school operating costs. The two decisions establish acceptance of funding, with implementation still to be traced.
HOUSING · PUBLIC SERVICES
The municipal council has approved the need for accommodation leases. Its supporting proposal envisages buildings for 15–25 people each, with tender terms still to follow.
PUBLIC HEALTH · COUNCIL DECISION
The municipal council has set support for five nurses. Its decision defines the financial commitment; staffing and the start of treatment still require separate confirmation.
TRANSPORT · AIRPORT
Runway reconstruction brings weekly winter closures. The dates and holiday exceptions travellers need to check.
PUBLIC DOCUMENTS · HOUSING
The government’s list includes the settlement. The proposed relief concerns qualifying main homes, not all Mykonos properties.
We examine decisions, check evidence and seek answers. An investigation requires new, corroborated findings; a public announcement is identified as an announcement.

2026 / SEASON OUTLOOK
What the airport figures, new hotel addresses and announced winter works mean for the next Mykonos season.
The practical outlook depends on three separate questions: how people are travelling, which places are operating, and what changes on the dates of the visit.
Fraport’s provisional figures show 426,229 airport passengers in August, up 7.5% on August 2025. This is a transport indicator: it does not measure unique visitors, hotel occupancy or spending. The year-to-date comparison and source tables are in the 2026 Report.
Read the traffic comparison →The announced Thursday runway suspensions concern the winter period, not current September travel. For a gathering or work trip, check the airline’s schedule before committing to arrival and departure days. Terminal availability does not mean that a scheduled passenger flight can use the runway during a suspension.
Read the airport works report →Four Seasons and Fouquet’s add documented operating addresses in different parts of the island. Their summer opening statements do not establish winter availability. Anyone planning later in the year needs confirmation of accommodation, dining and group arrangements for the same dates, rather than assuming the full summer offer continues.
Read Hotels & Openings →The summer programmes are useful records of what was advertised. Their archive pages cannot answer which artist, chef or itinerary will be available next. Our next useful update will come from a new programme, a confirmed operating change or comparable traffic data. Until then, a gap in the selective calendar is shown as a gap.
