ISLAND NEWS · SEASON OUTLOOK

The beach clubs are closing. Why are cruise ships still scheduled for Mykonos?

Cruise ships are scheduled to visit Mykonos through late October 2026. See selected port calls, venue closures and practical options for visitors.

Two different seasonal calendars

By late October, the summer entertainment season and the cruise calendar are moving at different speeds. Scorpios and Zuma Mykonos currently say their 2026 seasons are closed. The Municipal Port Fund of Mykonos, meanwhile, lists a series of cruise calls for the final days of October. That does not mean every vessel will arrive or that a particular business will open for its passengers. It does mean a visitor should plan for a quieter island, not assume the whole island has shut.

There is no single island-wide closing date. Restaurants, hotels, galleries and shops set their own schedules; a beach-club announcement says nothing certain about the business next door. For dates announced by specific businesses, see the October 2026 guide to announced seasonal closing dates; it is not a complete list of businesses still open.

Selected cruise calls, 22–30 October

The Port Fund’s indicative programme, published on 30 September, lists the following selected calls. These are examples from a longer schedule, not a complete daily list:

22 October — Odyssey of the Seas. 23 October — Sun Princess, Seven Seas Voyager and Norwegian Pearl. 25 October — Marella Discovery and MSC Divina. 26 October — Celebrity Eclipse and Celestyal Discovery. 27 October — Celebrity Ascent. 28 October — Enchanted Princess. 29 October — Celebrity Infinity and Silver Spirit. 30 October — Island Princess and Azamara Quest.

The programme is explicitly indicative and subject to change. It also lists calls in November, so 30 October is not the season’s final scheduled cruise date. A listed call is not evidence of arrival, disembarkation, passenger numbers or local spending. Check the cruise operator’s latest notice before travelling.

What a short visit can still offer

A walk through Chora, Little Venice and the windmill area does not depend on a beach-club booking. These are outdoor places to explore even as seasonal businesses reduce their hours. Whether an individual shop, café, gallery or restaurant is open on the day needs a direct check. Wind and sea conditions also affect how pleasant a waterfront walk will be.

The beaches remain part of the coastline, but access to a beach is different from an operating beach club, sunbed service or lifeguard. Do not infer that transport or commercial services are running because a beach appears in a summer guide.

Delos needs its own timetable

The Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades lists Delos archaeological-site hours of 08:00–18:00 for 16–31 October, with last admission at 17:30. Those hours describe the site, not the boat service from Mykonos. A cruise passenger needs to check outbound and return boats, weather and the ship’s all-aboard time before treating Delos as a possible excursion. A published site opening does not guarantee a workable same-day connection. The independent October 2026 Delos visiting guide explains tickets, boats and site hours separately; it cannot establish a cruise-compatible excursion.

Where will your ship land?

The Port Fund manages berth reservations, but its public schedule alone does not confirm the landing arrangement for each passenger. A ship may use the New Port at Tourlos or a tender arrangement nearer Chora, depending on operations. Ask the cruise line where you will disembark, whether a shuttle is provided and what time you must be back aboard. The ship’s all-aboard deadline is earlier than its published departure time.

Five checks before the port call

Confirm that your ship is still scheduled to call. Confirm the actual berth or tender instructions. Check the opening hours of any business you specifically want to visit. Recheck the weather and sea conditions, particularly for boats and tenders. Finally, follow the ship’s return deadline rather than planning around the port schedule’s departure column.

Late October can reward visitors who want the town and its landscape at a quieter pace. It is a different trip from August, and the official schedule shows the cruise calendar continues even after prominent summer venues close.
