Mykonos road-widening studies given another year, to September 2027
The municipal committee approved a 12-month extension for cadastral and road-design studies after the municipality changed the planned alignment. The decision concerns study work, not a road-building timetable.

Mykonos Municipal Committee approved a 12-month extension to the programme agreement for cadastral and road-design studies linked to the proposed widening of municipal roads. Decision 226/2026, adopted on 22 September, moves the study timetable from 30 September 2026 to 30 September 2027. The agreement, signed on 11 February 2025, is between the municipality and its development organisation Anaptyxiaki Prooptiki AE.
The committee approved a draft amendment and authorised the mayor to take the next lawful steps. The signed amendment was not included in the record checked for this report. More importantly, this is an extension of studies: it does not announce construction, identify a start date for roadworks or say that any road has been widened.
Why the studies need more time
The supporting proposal cites the joint monitoring committee’s 15 September minutes. According to that account, the engineers requested 12 additional months because the municipality changed the planned road alignment. The monitoring committee recommended the extension without altering the agreement’s physical or financial scope. The decision says it creates no new municipal-budget expenditure.
That explanation answers why the design programme shifted, but the published excerpt does not map the affected road segments or show the revised alignment. Residents cannot use this decision alone to establish whether a particular property or route is affected.
The point of disagreement
The approval passed by majority. The minutes record councillor Konstantinos Koukas objecting that the extension was not sufficiently documented. The committee nevertheless approved the timetable and draft agreement. Neither the objection nor the vote proves the studies are complete or that a road project has a construction permit.
The next useful records are the executed amendment, the study deliverables and any later project-specific approvals naming the roads. Our separate reporting on port fender installation concerns a different infrastructure action; it should not be confused with this road-study programme.
