Mykonos approves winter workshops: what residents can plan for
The municipality approves €17,688.60 for 2026 and provision for €17,081 in 2027. Music, cinema, choir training and an adult stress-management group are covered, but enrolment details still need confirmation.
Expenditure approved · final schedules and enrolment unconfirmed
Four programmes, two budget years
Mykonos Municipal Committee unanimously approved expenditure for four winter education programmes on 29 September. Decision 238/2026 allocates €17,688.60 including VAT to the 2026 budget and provides for €17,081 including VAT in 2027. These are approved expenditure and a future budget provision, not evidence that classes have started or that the money has been paid.
For residents staying on the island through winter, the decision identifies possible activities for different ages. It covers an adult psychoeducation group, children’s music and movement, an adult film workshop and vocal training for members of the Mykonos choir. The audiences and published arrangements differ: it is not a single course with one registration process.
An evening group and music for young children
The adult group on stress management and resilience is proposed as eight Wednesday meetings, 19:30–21:30, at Grypareio Cultural Centre between October and December. The document explicitly describes participation as free and open to interested members of the public. It does not give the first meeting date or a registration procedure. This is the municipality’s educational programme description, not a claim of clinical effectiveness.
The Orff music-and-movement programme is planned from mid-October to mid-June, with age groups of 3–4 and 5–7. The proposal describes teaching on two days a week but does not specify those days or an individual child’s timetable. Its budget is €5,580 for 2026 and €9,300 for 2027, including VAT. The free-participation statement for the adult group should not be assumed to apply to every other programme.
Cinema dates need clarification
The cinema workshop, titled Acting for the Camera, is intended for adults and includes rehearsal, filming, editing and a planned public screening. There is a timetable inconsistency inside the decision: the description says early November to the end of March 2027, while the cost tables cover October–December 2026 and January–May 2027. Applicants need the final teaching dates from the municipality rather than treating either span as a confirmed weekly schedule.
The cinema amounts are €4,668.60 for 2026 and €7,781 for 2027, including VAT. A separate €4,464 vocal-training seminar concerns members of the Mykonos choir; it is not described as a general open-enrolment class. The adult psychoeducation group accounts for the remaining €2,976 of the 2026 total.
What to check before joining
Residents should look for the final municipal notice specifying start dates, venues where not yet stated, places, eligibility and registration contacts. Approval of expenditure does not reserve a place. No exact start date is supplied here for a calendar listing.
These programmes are separate from the Municipal Music School’s proposed 2026–27 tuition fees, covered in our related report. A family comparing music options should check which programme an announcement refers to and confirm its own participation terms.
